Staff computer use policyI was on the advisory team of a mock job interview last week where one of the interviewers asked what a student would do if their friend gave them a USB stick with the latest and greatest Word software on it. The student said they would test and assess it but really he shouldn't even touch it because:

    1. It could have a virus and infect the entire work network.
    2. It is illegal to share copyrighted software.
    3. If the software has nothing to do with work then it shouldn't be anywhere near the work network.

For those of you that don't have a "Staff acceptable computer use policy" here's ours that you can copy:

    Our policy

The Spinning Planet business computers should not have any personal software, movies or music on them - for security, liscencing and time management reasons.

These types of software should not be on your PCs:

    1. P2P software such as utorrent
    2. Anything that is not used for business should not be on the PCs.
    3. Pirated software
