In our production meeting this morning we were discussing the best way for Spinning Planet and our clients to benefit from new technology. It got me thinking about how computers used to be so I thought I'd post my musings in this month's blog.

I've been in digital business since 1985. The journey from my first floppy disk based PC to my iPad has been a wonderful experience. Finally we can say that technology is becoming so transparent that it's difficult to put your finger on it. Instead of a cold machine that inhibits our creativity with the swipe of a finger we can touch other people's thoughts, ideas and feelings directly.

The key here is integration and an holistic approach. Digital strategy encompasses everything in business and not just technology. I found a great sentence to support my thoughts on this. Jesse James Gartret who is one of the gurus in user experience and usability wrote: "But more and more, our clients are asking us to look at the total experience they deliver: integrating products and services, making the digital and the physical work together holistically, and crafting experiences that happen across multiple channels over time"(J.J. Garrett).

This is also our challenge. I want to be part of this paradigm shift from post-industrial cyborg thinking to warm and gentle touch based business models where the heart is what matters and not just the artificial arteries. I want the whole thing not just bytes of something.
